When I tell people what my husband, the author of this article by the way, does for a living I get the same reaction. How can he do that, they say. I ask them what they would think if their son, their daughter, husband, best friend was accused of something they didn't do. The look on their faces is priceless as they try to resolve their inner conflict.

Yep. It’s always amazing to see people who have lived “good” lives and are now in the 30s, 40s, or 50s, get into trouble for something because they accidentally (or even deliberately sometimes) did something stupid. Or one of their family members does.

Attitudes about what kind of criminal justice system we should have change fast when you’re exposed to it.
